Mr.Russel Perera started his initial carrier in hotel industry at the Lanka Oberoi Hotel. He got the opportunity to join the Hilton Hotel in Dubai as a Food & Beverages Department Staff where he worked for five and half years. This company was investing in him, offering him opportunities to develop, and here he further enhanced his carrier by obtaining Diplomas in Food & Beverages from the American Hotels and Motels Association.
When Russel Perera was on vacation in the year 1988 he met Mr. C.R.S. Perera, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Seylan Bank and briefed Russel about opening the first Seylan Bank in Colombo. Mr.C. R. S. Perera suggested Mr.Russel to start a business and to under take providing a tea service to the Bank Clients and the Staff.
This was a great challenge to Mr.Russel Perera, where he had to decide between his present carrier and the business proposal. Mr.Russel Perera believed in self-confidence, hopes and decided to venture in this business which was a new subject to him. This bold step in his life made him to work in a different atmosphere and work with different people around him but his past experience in Hotel Industry played a major superlative role to take this risk.
